I started a new column on my site called "Today's Card" in which I select a card from The Essential Oils Healing Deck and accompanying book I created. While I am featuring Today's Card in this blog, you'll normally find it in the column on the right side. It will change so be sure to visit my website on a daily basis to discover powerful healing insights.
Today's Card: Tea Tree "Strengthens Resilience & Confidence"
Years ago, while driving through the countryside in Australia, I suddenly smelled an aroma similar to eucalyptus. The further I went the stronger the scent became. Suddenly, the source of the aroma became evident--a tea tree plantation. I had to stop to fully experience this olfactory marvel. Once I stepped out of the car, the full pungency of tea tree enveloped my senses. It was like nothing I've ever experienced before or since. I was sure that if I had been exposed to any bacteria or viruses during my travels, they had suddenly raced for the hills.
While the trees only grow to about 22 feet (6.7 m) tall, they exude a powerful presence. Native to the swampy, coastal areas of Australia, tea trees have been used by the Bundjalung people of Australia for many years. These indigenous people passed down stories of lakes with miraculous healing powers--seawater lagoons into which tea tree leaves had fallen.
While tea tree essential oil is best known for its antibacterial properties, research has also found that the essential oil prevents influenza viruses from entering the cells, which could reduce the likelihood of getting sick. Because melaleuca essential oil is a powerful antimicrobial and antifungal it warrants a place in any first aid kit to deal with infections of all kinds. It can be used topically for many skin conditions.
In addition to boosting immunity and resistance to infections, melaleuca essential oil is known for boosting the spirit. It promotes a positive outlook and helps strengthen confidence. It may especially be beneficial to people with a delicate constitution or those who feel victimized by their circumstances.
It has been historically used for: acne, arthritis, athlete's foot, bacterial infections, boils, bronchitis, candida infections, cold sores, colds and flu, dandruff, dental cavities, dermatitis, and much more.
Safety consideration: Dilute in a carrier oil for topical use if you have sensitive skin. Conduct a 48-72 hour skin patch test prior to use with sensitive skin.
