Are you feeling under the weather? So were these flowers and antique inkwell. The flowers had been left to wilt on the asphalt in a parking lot. The inkwell had been tossed in a previous era and left in a heap of trash on my property. I salvaged both items to capture this photo, appropriately taken on a rainy day. It seemed the perfect mood to capture a photo of these forgotten treasures.
If you’re also feeling like a forgotten or overlooked treasure, maybe it’s merely the eyes through which you’re viewed. We often view ourselves through a harsh lens, one that may be a continuation from the way others treated us—others who may not have seen our true worth or only offered transactional “love.”
Just for today, soften the lens. Find something beautiful about you. Perhaps it is your striking eyes, melodic voice, amazing sense of humour, or heightened sensitivity you keep hidden from the world, or something altogether different. Of course, try to make it a daily habit. But, make an effort to see yourself in a kinder, gentler way today.
If you feel inclined, share what’s beautiful about you below. I’ll get things started: I’m beautifully sensitive. I was told throughout my life it was a weakness, but it’s not. It’s beautiful. I see that now.
